On October 31, 2014 our family was blessed with a precious gift when my nephew, John Anglin, was born. During her third trimester, my sister-in-law Carole began to experience abdominal pain. She underwent an endoscopy which ultimately led to the diagnosis of a hiatal hernia. The doctors were surprised at amount of discomfort it was causing her, but she was told that the pain and pressure would be relieved once the baby was delivered. The pain, however, did not go away. Three short weeks after John was born, my sister-in-law was in emergency surgery to remove a mass from her small intestine and our family received the news that Carole had Stage 1 Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
What was already going to be a trying time for Carole and my brother Troy, bringing home their first baby, was now one of the scariest and most confusing times in their lives.
Over the next 5 months, Carole will be undergoing chemotherapy treatments and enduring all of the unpleasant side effects that come along with that. She will be home with the baby and with the help of family and friends, she and John will be well taken care of.
There has been an outpouring of love and support from those who have heard Carole's story and many people have asked how they can help. What I decided to do is set up an account where funds can be donated to Carole and Troy. My hope is that during this time while Carole is not feeling well and unable to work, she can rest and enjoy her newborn son without having to worry about everyday necessities & medical expenses.
I will be updating this page as Carole's journey continues. Thank you all for your strength and support, our family appreciates it more than you will ever know.
