My son found what we thought to be a very old bloodhound wandering blindly on a back road. It took some time and a swim before he could coax her into the car. She had been bred extensively, was severely malnourished, and appeared to be in pain with every step she took. Her eyes were infected, caked in dirt and pus. When we took her to the vet we found out that she was actually only about 5 years old. Her eyes were indeed infected and needed antibiotic ointment twice a day for 2 weeks. We cleared the infection and after a follow up we found she still needed help. She needs her eyes washed daily and requires surgery to prevent her eyelids from rolling in. The lashes irritate her eyes and can (possibly have already) caused partial or permanent blindness. We would like to do the surgery when she is spayed to save her from the stress of 2 surgeries. It will be approx. $450.
